yam_ekaj I respect this review a lot. It's honest, and certainly a snapshot of how a lot of fans were likely feeling. I especially agree with the thoughts of how Phish songs (in this case Free and Theme) can 'win you over' as it were. That happens to me almost every time they play numberline. It's maybe annoying at first, but they always getcha with that jam segment. Again, totally understand the feeling about Set 3 - I too was absolutely exhausted. But to provide a slightly contrary analysis, I personally loved the choice to take SYSF and Tweezer for mini-rides here. Both were quite good, particularly the Tweezer in my opinion. it took on a "composition-on-the-fly" feeling, with the band working around a theme in both a major and minor key. magnificent at times. i was definitely disappointed when it was ended so quickly, but the ASIHTOS that followed was really a top-notch version. no BD ASIHTOS, but certainly holds it's own. numberline thru bug was definitely a drop in energy, although i will almost never say no to a meatstick. to me, very fair that the band would want to blow off a little steam in that third set, and just play some good versions of songs they like to play. do i wish tweezer was saved for another night? yeah probably, but i can't in good conscience complain any time they play that song. again, thanks for your review! just wanted to provide a different 0.02. can't wait for tonight!
